THE BIBLE AND THE BOOK OF MORMON – ARE BOTH NECESSARY?

Can the King James Bible (for instance) be trusted, or should we believe as Mormons teach that parts of it have NOT been accurately translated, and therefore the Book of Mormon was necessary to give us ALL of what God wants the human race to understand about Him, and what is important to Him?

Mormons list 13 Articles of Faith that they adhere to. Number Eight (8) reads:

8. We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.

Think about what is being implied in Article 8:

1) Parts of the Bible have been translated incorrectly, but the Book of Mormon surely can be trusted for 100% accuracy.

2) Because Mormons believe that the Bible has been mistranslated, but the Book of Mormon is accurate, Mormons are God’s representatives on Earth to be the final authority as to what portion/portions of the Bible have been mistranslated.

3) The Book of Mormon surpasses the accuracy of modern-day translations of the Bible.

4) Because Mormons believe the Bible has been translated inaccurately, how can we really trust much of anything that is written in the Bible period?

5) Because Mormons believe the Bible has been translated inaccurately, truly all ways to heaven may be correct after all, and believing on the Lord Jesus Christ only as our doorway (or means) to heaven is just one way, but not the only way to heaven.

6) Because Mormons believe the Bible has not been translated accurately, anything any other person writes or says about God can be just as accurate as the Book of Mormon, and no one can prove differently.

7) Because Mormons believe the Bible has been mistranslated, one must assume they are not convinced that Revelation 22:18-19 now means what it seems to imply, which IS:

For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. (King James translation)

Dear reader … if Satan can get you to believe that the King James Bible (for instance, or any other modern-day commonly accepted translation of the Bible) cannot be trusted for its accuracy, that then opens the door WIDE for him to flood you with every lie he wants to throw at you.

When you fully believe Satan’s lie, or lies, you are trifling with the Holy Spirit, because the lie or lies Satan can con (deceive) you into believing … will be a lie or lies you’ll be passing along to others to believe.

When you trifle with the Holy Spirit, you are taking on the eternal Godhead. (Father, the Word [Jesus Christ], Holy Spirit).

God gives us a clear demonstration of what He thinks about liars in Acts Chapter 5. The fate of Ananias and Sapphira after they lied to the Holy Spirit was put there as a sobering reminder to us of what He thinks about lying. (But of course even this portion of the Bible might be inaccurately translated – RIGHT? – and so there is no reason to be concerned, now is there? … would be a typical reaction to a true-blue faithful Mormon).

If the Holy Spirit can be so upset by people who claim to represent Jesus Christ just TELLING a lie about money matters as Ananias and Sapphira were guilty of … do any of us fully know how upset He must get when we do everything in our power to try to persuade OTHERS to believe our lie … especially a lie of the magnitude of Article 8?

I would not want to be one who will answer to God on the Judgment Day about not only believing Article 8, but worse yet, hoping others will believe the lie as well.

It is one matter to be spiritually deceived, but God gives a clear warning to those who are willing to pass their deception on to others:

My brethren, let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment. – James 3:1 (NKJV)
